Atim Berna joined the TAC Budget Tracking Committee, a modification of the Grasroots Anticorruption Committee in Kapujan Sub County in Katakwi as part of the demand side network to monitor the delivery of the National Agricutural Advisory Services (NAADS) under the auspices of the Public Financing For Agriculture Project. This 3 year project was implemente in Kapujan and Magoro Sub Counties of Katakwi District with support from Actionaid. TAC mobilized small holder farmers into groups to monitor the delivery of any public funded agricutlure interventions with the aim of improving services. Ms Atim Berna distinguished herself as one of the small holder farmer group leaders in Kapujan. She was an aggressive moblizer, a passionate advocate and zealous person in their work for accountability for small holder farmers. She used a range of approaches like the Actionaid REFLECT methodology to connect her small group to a number of opportunities including the Sub County Budget Conference, credit facilities at the bank and promoting voluntary savings and credit for her group. She soon built a profile as a good leader and was encouraged by her community to stand for elective office as a District Councillor. In the February 2016 election; she emerged victorious and was even assigned additional responsbility in council as a Deputy Speaker. Ms Atim in her post swearing in interview credited TAC for exposing her to public affairs from where her leadership profile and port folio have not only been identified but recognized.
