The OC CID attached to Kobuin police post, Ngora district has been re-arrested by the professional standards unit (PSU) for soliciting bribes.
Detective Tadeo Ecodu, will be arraigned today before the Anticorruption court in Kampala over charges of soliciting for bribes from police recruits during the last year’s national police recruitment exercise.
By the time of his first arrest last year, detective Ecodu was attached to Ngora Central Police station.
The earlier arrest was carried out after several youth he had solicited money from reported their ordeal to TAC monitors after his failure to guarantee them slots in the police force during the recruitment exercise as he had earlier promised.
Based on the grievances, the TAC secretariat approached the professional standard unit (PSU), who upon their investigation, arrested and found Detective Ecodu in possession of Ush 300,000 he had solicited from the recruits.
Detective Ecodu, who was temporally released after being detained at Soroti central police station, was promoted and posted to Kobuin police post, where he has been working as OC CID.
It is here where the PSU officers picked up Ecodu on Saturday after the directorate of public prosecution sanctioned his charge sheet for prosecution before the anti corruption court.
